From one bicycle to a community that moves itself

We don't measure impact by what we hand out. We measure it by what people can do next. Here is the route we're riding and how we report on it.

Theory of change

How change happens

Start · What we put in

Inputs

  • Bicycles and school shoes
  • Community rides and events
  • Rider training and mentorship
  • Technical and green skills training
Checkpoint 1 · What we deliver

Outputs

  • Children riding to school every day
  • Youth and women trained in technical and green skills
  • Cycling and wellness events in target communities
  • Graduates linked to jobs, apprenticeships or their own business
Checkpoint 2 · What changes

Outcomes

  • Better school attendance and retention
  • Youth and women earning sustainable livelihoods
  • Less risk of early marriage and exploitation
  • More people using bicycles as everyday transport
Finish · What lasts

Impact

  • Cycles of poverty between generations broken
  • A skilled, environmentally conscious workforce
  • Women leading in technical, non-traditional fields
  • A foundation the community owns and that stands on its own finances

Global goals

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals

3Good health and well-being
4Quality education
5Gender equality
8Decent work and economic growth
11Sustainable cities and communities
13Climate action

Bicycles for learners serve quality education. Rides and positive masculinity work serve health and gender equality. Skills training and the lodge create decent work, and clean transport and conservation serve sustainable communities and climate action.

How we're funded

A funding model built for resilience

We don't depend on a single donor. Four income streams support each other, so the work continues when any one of them slows.

Grants and donations

Programme grants from foundations, institutional funding, seed and catalytic grants, and individual and community giving.

Corporate partners

Brand sponsorships, CSR partnerships and in-kind contributions.

Social enterprise

Income from the cycling lodge, the technical school and locally made merchandise.

Events

Race registration fees, curated cycling tours and expeditions, and event sponsorships.

Transparency

Reports and accounts

  • Our first annual report and accounts will be published here.
